Villagers baffled by mutant cow with a fifth leg on its back

The residents of a Chinese village in Sanyuan county of Shaanxi province left baffled over a ‘mutant’ cow born with five legs as its extra limb grew on its back.

The footage showed the mutant cow, now eight months old, standing in a farmer, Mr Zhao’s house who has confessed that he was troubled by the birth of the mutant animal after some neighbours deeming it ‘unlucky’.

According to the report, the cow weighed around 10 kilograms (22 pounds) when it was born and it now weighs around 100 kilograms (220 pounds) under the meticulous care of the owner.

Mr Zhao told the reporter that the cow’s fifth leg had grown with the animal and could even move when he touched it. He said he was worried because more and more neighbours had heard about his cow and thought that it spelt back luck.

Liu Beizhan, a local animal husbandry expert, urged the villagers not to panic and explained that the cow had a deformity called polymelia.

Polymelia – in other words, extra limbs – is an extremely uncommon disorder. A 2002 study estimated that out of every 100,000 cattle born worldwide, fewer than four have extra limbs.

Accountability court hears assets case against Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD: An accountability court in Islamabad on Wednesday resumed the hearing of a reference filed against former finance minister Ishaq Dar by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for allegedly accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income. Judge Muhammad Bashir is recording the statement of a prosecution witness, Ishtiaq Ahmed. At the previous hearing, the accountability judge had reserved his verdict on an application filed by two co-accused seeking acquittal in the case. SFA raids several restaurants in Karachi, imposes fine

KARACHI: The Sindh Food Authority (SFA) on Friday raided several restaurants in city’s North Nazimabad area over unhygienic conditions, ARY News reported. According to the SFA, one of the restaurants was found utilizing the used oil multiple times. The items were also not properly frozen while crockery for serving the food was also not clean. The team imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the restaurant. The SFA team found hygiene standards were sheerly compromised in food making to the core. The food inspectors said they had previously served notices to the food outlets, but the restaurant owners apparently turned a blind eye to it. Raids were also conducted in district Malir and Gulshan-e-Hadeed. Sanitary conditions and lack of fumigation facilities were found at the restaurants in some of the Malir outlets. Trump says US generals feel Beirut blast was likely an ‘attack’
