Derailment of Rehman Baba Express leaves at least 10 passengers injured

TOBA TEK SINGH: At least ten passengers got injured when the engine and four bogies of the Rehman Baba Express derailed in Toba Tek Singh in the wee hours of Friday.

According to details, Karachi to Peshawar bound train met an accident near Toka Tek Singh, resulting in injuries to at least 10 passengers. The injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) for treatment.

According to the sources, the incident took place due to negligence of driver Sagheer Ahmed, who was the driver of freight train actually.

Following the incident, rescue teams reached the spot and managed to restore railway traffic after repair of the track.

On July 11, At least eleven people were killed and more than sixty injured when Quetta bound Akber Express collided with goods train at Walhar near Sadiqabad.

According to DPO Rahim Yar Khan Umer Salamat, the rescue operation was carried out soon after the derailment. The bodies were recovered from the bogies through hydraulic cutters.

Injured were shifted to the hospitals of Sadiqabad and Rahim Yar Khan where an emergency was declared.

Accountability court hears assets case against Ishaq Dar

ISLAMABAD: An accountability court in Islamabad on Wednesday resumed the hearing of a reference filed against former finance minister Ishaq Dar by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for allegedly accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income. Judge Muhammad Bashir is recording the statement of a prosecution witness, Ishtiaq Ahmed. Qatar to hike minimum wage ‘by end of year’

DOHA: Qatar could increase the minimum wage for migrant workers by the end of 2018, unions predicted on Monday, as the 2022 World Cup host seeks to push through labour reforms. It would be the first change to the monthly wage since its introduction by the gas-rich Gulf state last November. “By the end of the year we expect a new minimum wage to be set, that’s good news,” said Sharan Burrow, general secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation. Burrow did not name a figure but said the new wage would be calculated by assessing a “basket of goods”. She was speaking after meeting Qatar’s labour minister, Issa al-Jufali al-Nuaimi, and other government officials in Doha over the past two days.
