PM Imran Khan lands in Saudi Arabia for OIC summit, visits Roza e Rasool (PBUH)

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in Medina for a three-day visit on Thursday to attend the 14th Summit of Origination of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which will be held in Makkah on May 31, ARY News reported.

Khan  will pay his respects on the Roza-e-Rasool (Peace Be Upon Him) and offer Nawafil on the sacred place of worship after which he will depart for Jeddah to attend the Islamic Summit meeting.

The summit will be presided upon by the Saudi King Shah Salman bin Abdul Aziz.

The summit is being held under the banner of ‘together for the future’ aims to unite Muslim countries on one platform to better tackle the difficulties and challenges they are facing.

Prior to the Prime Minister’s visit, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mehmood Qureshi who had arrived earlier to Saudi Arabia and participated in the ministerial meetings of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) where he met various Foreign Ministers and members of the OIC.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi opined in a meeting with the OIC secretary general that the solution to challenges being faced by the Muslim Ummah were unity and cohesion between the Muslim states.

ISLAMABAD: An accountability court in Islamabad on Wednesday resumed the hearing of a reference filed against former finance minister Ishaq Dar by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for allegedly accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income.  Judge Muhammad Bashir is recording the statement of a prosecution witness, Ishtiaq Ahmed. Qatar to hike minimum wage ‘by end of year’

DOHA: Qatar could increase the minimum wage for migrant workers by the end of 2018, unions predicted on Monday, as the 2022 World Cup host seeks to push through labour reforms. It would be the first change to the monthly wage since its introduction by the gas-rich Gulf state last November. “By the end of the year we expect a new minimum wage to be set, that’s good news,” said Sharan Burrow, general secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation. Burrow did not name a figure but said the new wage would be calculated by assessing a “basket of goods”. She was speaking after meeting Qatar’s labour minister, Issa al-Jufali al-Nuaimi, and other government officials in Doha over the past two days.
