Sindh cabinet approves Rs477mn for erstwhile Katchi Abadis Authority

KARACHI: The Sindh cabinet here on Tuesday allocated Rs477.327 million for Sindh Human Settlement Authority (erstwhile Sindh Katchi Abadis Authority), ARY News reported.

The Sindh cabinet meeting held today with Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in the chair. The cabinet meeting decided to rename the Sindh Katchi Abadis Authority as Sindh Human Settlement Authority.

According to the details, the meeting reserved Rs317.089 million for the expenditure of its employees and Rs 49.505 million for operations.

However Rs1.560 million was allocated for R&M and Rs55.373 million for non-development expenditure. Rs49 million were allocated for development work in the slum areas.

During the meeting, Sindh Home Secretary Abdul Kabir Kazi briefed the cabinet about Sindh Safe City Authority Act-2019. The meeting agreed to constitute a 15-member Sindh Safe City Authority chaired by Sindh chief minister. The authority would establish a command, control and communication system in the province. Sindh CM said that the purpose of the authority was to ensure safety of the people.

The cabinet meeting formed four-member committee and asked it to present a brief report on Sindh Safe City Authority within 15 days.

India’s coronavirus cases rise by a daily record of 55,078

BENGALURU: India reported another record surge in daily COVID-19 cases on Friday, taking the total to 1.64 million, as the government further eases virus curbs in a bid to resuscitate the economy, while also trying to increase testing. Infections jumped by 55,078 in the past 24 hours, while the death toll rose by 779 to 35,747, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on its website. The ministry also said it aimed to raise the country’s capacity to 1 million coronavirus tests per day in the medium term, from a record 600,000 on Friday. The federal government this week announced the reopening of yoga institutes and gymnasiums, and removed restrictions on the movement of people and goods.
