CM’s spokesperson given powers to inspect Punjab departments

LAHORE: Spokesperson to Punjab Chief Minister, Shahbaz Gill, on Sunday said that he was given authority to hold inspection of different provincial departments and present report to CM Usman Buzdar, ARY News reported.

Shahbaz Gill, in his Twitter message, said that the chief minister has directed him to inspect different provincial institution and present [performance] report.

He added that CM Buzdar believed on direct contact with Punjab nationals.

“Usman Buzdar is captain of Punjab and I will fulfil responsibility given by the captain,” he said.

In a separate statement, Punjab CM Usman Buzdar said that the provincial authorities have taken effective steps to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against corruption on every level.

He credited present government for the major reduction in corruption and promotion of transparency following positive policies.

On March 28, Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar Khan had directed the provincial bureaucracy to do result-oriented work.

“Now that when the bureaucracy has been given full liberty for doing work, we want results,” Usman Buzdar said while presiding over a high-level meeting at the Punjab Civil Secretariat, Lahore.

He gave guidelines to the administration and police about good governance and public service delivery. He directed for implementation on 19-point agenda for good governance and public service delivery.

The Punjab chief minister said police and the administration would have to enhance governance through joint and strong efforts.

SFA raids several restaurants in Karachi, imposes fine

KARACHI: The Sindh Food Authority (SFA) on Friday raided several restaurants in city’s North Nazimabad area over unhygienic conditions, ARY News reported. According to the SFA, one of the restaurants was found utilizing the used oil multiple times. The items were also not properly frozen while crockery for serving the food was also not clean. The team imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on the restaurant. The SFA team found hygiene standards were sheerly compromised in food making to the core. The food inspectors said they had previously served notices to the food outlets, but the restaurant owners apparently turned a blind eye to it. Raids were also conducted in district Malir and Gulshan-e-Hadeed. Sanitary conditions and lack of fumigation facilities were found at the restaurants in some of the Malir outlets.
