New Year night celebrations kick off in Pakistan

KARACHI: New Year night celebrations have kicked off all over the country with new hopes, wishes and ambitions for 2019.

Bahria Town Lahore has organised splendid show of fireworks. ARY News has also extended its viewers New Year greetings.

People in all major cities of the country prayed that 2019 will usher the country into a new era of prosperity and peace.

Security measures were beefed up as a large number of revellers took to streets to celebrate this occasion.

Families enjoyed food while youth were making merry with bike riding stunts and fireworks.
In a surprise move for the residents of the biggest city of the country, the Sindh government has withdrawn the notification banning pillion-riding within a couple of hours of its issuance.

Aerial firing has been banned to avoid casualties and heavy deployment of police and other law enforcement agencies has been ensured to impose this ban in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, Peshawar, Quetta and Rawalpindi.

India’s coronavirus cases rise by a daily record of 55,078

BENGALURU: India reported another record surge in daily COVID-19 cases on Friday, taking the total to 1.64 million, as the government further eases virus curbs in a bid to resuscitate the economy, while also trying to increase testing. Infections jumped by 55,078 in the past 24 hours, while the death toll rose by 779 to 35,747, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on its website. The ministry also said it aimed to raise the country’s capacity to 1 million coronavirus tests per day in the medium term, from a record 600,000 on Friday. Abu Dhabi crown prince expected to visit Pakistan on January 2: sources

ISLAMABAD: Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is expected to arrive in Islamabad on January 2, on a day-long visit, ARY News reported on Wednesday, citing sources. The visiting crown prince is scheduled to hold meetings with Prime Minister Imran Khan and other high-level officials of the government, said sources privy to the matter.
