ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday postponed the all parties conference for few days.

While  talking to journalist, Fazlur Rehman said that a high-level meeting of his party has decided to convene a parliamentary leaders meeting ahead of the APC. He said thatPML-N leadership will be informed about the decision.

Fazlur Rehman said that PML-N’s proposals about the APC and other issues were came under discussion in the meeting.

It is pertinent to mention here that the differences between two major opposition parties – Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had turned the prospects of a successful APC bleak.

sources said, in order to patch up with the PPP, the leadership of PML-N had put forward the need to restore trust as its foremost precondition.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership had conditioned its participation in the opposition’s all parties conference (APC) convened by Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman.

The former ruling party was enraged over the recent statement of PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, in which he held PML-N supreme leader Nawaz Sharif responsible for the cases against PPP leaders.

The PML-N had demanded from the leadership of PPP to first take steps to mend the trust deficit developed in the wake of recent political scenario.

A day earlier, the Sharif brothers – Nawaz and Shehbaz – decided against attending the all parties conference. The PML-M had decided that a delegation of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would attend the APC.

Earlier, Maulana Fazlur Rehman had called on former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, on October 28, at his Jati Umra resident but he failed convince the PML-N supreme leader to attend the ACP.

Qatar to hike minimum wage ‘by end of year’

DOHA: Qatar could increase the minimum wage for migrant workers by the end of 2018, unions predicted on Monday, as the 2022 World Cup host seeks to push through labour reforms. It would be the first change to the monthly wage since its introduction by the gas-rich Gulf state last November. “By the end of the year we expect a new minimum wage to be set, that’s good news,” said Sharan Burrow, general secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation. Burrow did not name a figure but said the new wage would be calculated by assessing a “basket of goods”. She was speaking after meeting Qatar’s labour minister, Issa al-Jufali al-Nuaimi, and other government officials in Doha over the past two days. The minimum wage was set at 750 riyals a month ($206, 170 euro) on its introduction. In addition to the salary, labourers receive free accommodation, food and healthcare plans, covered by employers. The 750-riyal figure has been criticised as too low. “We believe it is not good e...
