Return of The Bachchans: Aishwarya, Abhishek to star in Gulab Jamun

Aishwarya

Famous real life couple of Bollywood family, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be seen sharing screen space on silver screen eight years after Raavan (2010).

Both of them were presented script of ‘Gulab Jamun’ by director Anurag Kashyup around one and a half years ago, which, after thoroughly going through, was very much admired by Aishwarya, however Abhishek could not give it a go ahead then.

Now, Ash has confirmed in an interview to Mid Day that both of them have agreed to do the movie.

“AB [Abhishek] and I have agreed to do Gulab Jamun. I told AB that he needs to decide what he wants to do after Manmarziyan,” she said

“We had agreed on the idea earlier. However, it was around the same time that AB decided to take time-out. After the hiatus, he returned with Manmarziyan, which coincidentally is directed by Anurag Kashyap. That’s when the chatter around Gulab Jamun began again, and we finally came on board. It is a beautiful script, and we fit the narrative perfectly.”

Aishwarya said: “We have got many scripts, and at times, we got tempted too. But then, we discuss it out loud. We take stock and say, ‘Does it excite us?’ Why should marriage define our choices? Shouldn’t we be actually approaching the story as individual actors?”

Aishwarya’s Fanney Khan is set to release in which she plays a pop star Baby Singh’s role, while Abhishek has just finished shooting for Manmarziyan.

Qatar to hike minimum wage ‘by end of year’

DOHA: Qatar could increase the minimum wage for migrant workers by the end of 2018, unions predicted on Monday, as the 2022 World Cup host seeks to push through labour reforms. It would be the first change to the monthly wage since its introduction by the gas-rich Gulf state last November. “By the end of the year we expect a new minimum wage to be set, that’s good news,” said Sharan Burrow, general secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation. Burrow did not name a figure but said the new wage would be calculated by assessing a “basket of goods”. She was speaking after meeting Qatar’s labour minister, Issa al-Jufali al-Nuaimi, and other government officials in Doha over the past two days. The minimum wage was set at 750 riyals a month ($206, 170 euro) on its introduction. In addition to the salary, labourers receive free accommodation, food and healthcare plans, covered by employers. The 750-riyal figure has been criticised as too low. “We believe it is not good e...
