KARACHI: Ousted prime minister and PML-N president Nawaz Sharif is arriving here today on a two-day visit to hold meetings with party leaders.
This is his first visit to the metropolis after his disqualification at the hands of the Supreme Court on July 28, last year, in the Panama Papers case.
Sharif will arrive in the city in a charter plane from Lahore and is expected to land at Karachi airport at 11:00pm.
A large number of PML-N leaders and activists are expected to reach the airport to welcome their leader.
He will address a gathering of party workers at the airport’s old terminal after his arrival. During his two-day stay here, the PML-N chief will attend a seminar at a hotel and also meet lawyers.
Sharif’s trip is a part of the ruling party’s election campaign to garner support and mould public opinion in its favour especially after his ouster from office and trial on corruption charges.
He is also expected to visit Peshawar this month to address public meetings.
In the past couple of weeks, the trice-elected premier had addressed a number of public rallies in different parts of Punjab province.
