Govt ready to help China tackle coronavirus outbreak: FM Qureshi

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said on Thursday Pakistan stands by the Chinese people and leadership in their efforts to contain a deadly coronavirus outbreak. He in a statement said Chinese authorities have been making great efforts to tackle the deadly disease. Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the global community, including Secretary-General UN, has widely appreciated China’s efforts in this regard. He said the government stands ready to extend every possible assistance to Chinese brethren to help deal with the aftermath of the coronavirus outbreak.  He expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for extending utmost assistance to Pakistani nationals in China. LHC takes notice of deterioration of Lal Suhanra Park

LAHORE: Lahore High Court Chief Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh on Thursday took the notice of deteriorating state of Lal Suhanra Park in Bahawalpur, ARY News reported. The chief justice taken notice of the deteriorating condition of the park while hearing the Lahore smog case. The bench was informed that the black bucks and the lion have now disappeared from the Lal Suhanra Park. “The lion has been illegally transferred to Lahore Zoo,” the petitioner informed the court. The number of black bucks and other types of deer have dropped to an alarming extent in the park, petition said. “Most of black bucks have been stolen from the park,” the counsel of petitioner told the high court bench. PM House’s spokesperson rejects reports of hike in premier’s salary

ISLAMABAD: The spokesperson of the Prime Minister House has rejected the reports regarding the increase in the premier’s salary and reiterated the call for a country-wide austerity drive being supervised by PM Imran Khan, ARY News reported The spokesperson said there is no truth in the reports about the hike of the premier’s salary as PM Imran Khan is running a country-wide austerity campaign for reducing the government’s expenses. Punjab govt writes to Nawaz to provide complete medical reports

LAHORE: The Punjab government has written yet another letter to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in light of objections of a medical panel that termed his fresh medical reports unsatisfactory, ARY News learnt on Thursday. The former premier’s lawyers, Khawaja Haris and Atta Tarrar have been asked to provide within three days complete details of the ailments he is suffering from. The Punjab government said cardiac consultant Surgeon David Lawrence’s reports pointed out only cardiac issues, instructing the PML-N supreme leader to give details about his current platelet count, PAT scan and renal problem. UAE announces $200 million financial aid to PM’s youth programme

ISLAMABAD: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government has announced to provide $200 million financial assistance to the Prime Minister’s Kamyab Jawan programme for youth development, ARY News reported on Thursday. The youth development programme initiated by Prime Minister Imran Khan is receiving acknowledgement on international level as the UAE government offered assistance to Pakistan. ISLAMABAD: The met office has predicted very cold weather in northern Balochistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir on Thursday, ARY News reported. Man nabbed over smuggling drugs hidden inside shoes at Lahore airport

LAHORE: A passenger who attempted to smuggle 850-gram drugs hidden inside his shoes has been arrested by Airports’ Security Forces (ASF) personnel at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport, ARY News reported on Thursday. The passenger is identified as Asghar, a resident of Gujranwala, who was departing to Doha through a private airline. During the checking, ASF officials have recovered 850-gram charas which was hidden insides his shoes. Later, the arrested man handed over the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) officials for legal action. Earlier in December last year, an ANF team had foiled a bid to smuggle heroin abroad from Allama Iqbal International airport. As per details, the ANF team recovered heroin from a Doha-bound flight passenger named Iqbal Khan at the Allama Iqbal International airport in Lahore.
