London police arrest two drunk passengers from PIA’s flight

LONDON: The London police on Tuesday arrested two drunk passengers from Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) Islamabad-bound flight from London at the Heathrow airport, ARY News reported. As per details, the ruckus was reported inside the PIA’s Islamabad bound flight no PK-786 at the Heathrow airport, when two drunk passengers exchanged punches. Taking notice of the complaints lodged by other on-board passengers, the crew informed the flight’s captain about the situation. The captain of the flight called police by contacting the Control Tower at the Heathrow airport. The passengers were taken into custody by the London police. According to the PIA’s spokesperson, both the passengers have been blacklisted, while the flight departed for Islamabad from the Heathrow airport after delay of an hour. SC orders scrutiny of educational degrees of PIA employees

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) has issued directives to initiate scrutiny of educational degrees of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) employees and ordered the authorities to submit a report after completing the verification process, ARY News reported on Tuesday. The top court’s two-member bench headed by the Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed also issued notices to summon Attorney General, PIA managing director and chairman of Higher Education Commission (HEC) in the next hearing. During the hearing related to the case filed against possession of fake degrees by the PIA workers, the lawyer told the apex court that the employees have received educational degrees from a private university of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) without attending a single class. No extension in winter vacations for schools, announces Sindh govt

KARACHI: Sindh education secretary Ahsan Ali Mangi rejected rumours of extending winter vacations for schools, saying that Tuesday is the last day of holidays as per schedule, ARY News reported. The Sindh’s Secretary School Education and Literacy Department, Ahsan Ali Mangi, clarified that no extension will be made in winter vacations for the educational institutions and schools will be reopened from January 1 (tomorrow). On December 19, the Sindh Education and Literacy Department had announced that all public and private education institutions in the province will remain closed for winter vacations from December 20 to December 31, 2019. Gas crisis: CNG stations to remain closed in Sindh for consecutive 48 hours

KARACHI: The Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations will remain closed in Sindh for consecutive 48 hours, as the gas crisis further deepen in Sindh, ARY News reported. The CNG stations were supposed to reopen today, but again the closure schedule has been changed by the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC). A SSGC spokesperson said that the decision has been taken owing to the shortage of gas in the system, adding that they were facing difficulties to meet the gas demand of domestic consumers. The CNG filling stations remained open for only four days in last 15 days of December. On the other hand, due to gas load shedding export orders in Karachi are being badly affected. CJ IHC orders govt, opposition to build consensus on ECP appointments

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Athar Minallah has given time to the federal government to build consensus with the opposition over the appointments of the two members in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), ARY News reported on Tuesday. Karachi: Police to prepare list of dangerous buildings

KARACHI: Police authorities have ordered the department to prepare a list of dangerous and dilapidated structures in city after a six-storey building collapsed in Karachi on Monday, ARY News reported. Additional IG Karachi Ghulam Nabi Memon in an official order to the DIGs and SSPs has directed them to prepare a list of dilapidated buildings in their concerned areas, sources said. The DSPs and SHOs have also been issued orders over the matter. The AIG has issued orders to police officers that the prepared list of dangerous buildings should also be dispatched to the deputy commissioners of concerned districts. Moreover, the list should also be provided to concerned departments and the security branch of the office, the order said.
