LAHORE: The anti-corruption unit (ACU) of Pakistan Cricket Board on Wednesday banned opener Shahzaib Hassan for one year in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) spot-fixing case. The cricketer was directed to pay a fine of Rs1 million. Shahzaib is the fourth player found guilty of his involvement in spot-fixing in the second Pakistan Super League (PSL). In March, last year, he was suspended by the PCB with immediate effect from participating in all forms of cricket. Shahzaib faced charges of instigating fellow players for spot-fixing and failing to disclose approaches as well as details of any such crime. The PCB’s anti-corruption body found him guilty on two counts. The spot-fixing scandal came to the light last year on the first day of the second PSL, which was held in Dubai while the final was played in Lahore. ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is dragging its feets to probe ‘abundant’ and ‘convincing’ evidences of money laundering against Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif. He expressed these sentiments during a meeting with PTI leader Usman Dar at his residence in Bani Gala here. The PTI chief said it is beyond his understanding as why the anti-graft body is apathy to launch an investigation, despite undeniable proofs against Asif. On the occasion, he directed Dar to lead a delegation and hold a meeting with the chairman of NAB Javed Iqbal over the matter. Khan said all the evidences including banking transactions against Asif and his wife would be provided to the NAB. “We hope the NAB will soon initiate corruption proceedings against Khawaja Asif,” he added.
